Job summary

Divergent is seeking a Senior/Staff Manufacturing Development Engineer to productionize and scale our advanced manufacturing capital equipment, including laser powder bed fusion machines and automated assembly gear. You will own the translation of complex machine technology from concept to repeatable, reliable production, partnering across design, automation, software, operations, and quality.

You will lead development of work instructions, SOPs, test procedures, and process documentation,

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related technical discipline.
5+ years (Senior) or 7+ years (Staff) of relevant experience.
Experience with capital equipment or low-volume production.

Responsibilities

Serve as the primary manufacturing development owner for one or more factory modules and processes.
Develop deep technical understanding of systems, including architecture, controls, interfaces, and failure modes.
Own manufacturing readiness from development through production handoff.
Lead creation of work instructions, SOPs, test procedures, and process documentation.
Lead troubleshooting and corrective actions to improve reliability and uptime.
Partner with design, automation, software, operations, quality, supply chain, and R&D to improve manufacturability.
Drive DFMs, DFAs, tooling, fixtures, and cycle-time improvements.
Support design changes through PLM, configuration management, and change control.
Mentor engineers and technicians to raise standards.
