Job summary

Timken is seeking a Senior/ Principal Process Engineer – NA Rail Services to lead electrical, controls, and automation improvements across North America Rail operations. You will optimize safety, quality, and efficiency while guiding capital projects and technical standards.

The role requires strong PLC/HMI expertise, experience with industrial controls and data-driven improvement, and collaboration with operations, maintenance, and suppliers to deliver sustainable results.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in electrical/automation discipline.
Experience applying electrical engineering principles in manufacturing.
Proficiency with PLC programming and HMI development.
Experience with VFDs, servo systems, and industrial controls.
Ability to read and create electrical schematics and drawings.

Responsibilities

Lead electrical safety improvements and machine safeguarding.
Improve throughput, quality, uptime through process optimization and automation.
Design, program, troubleshoot PLC/HMI/SCADA systems; support robotics and vision systems.
Lead capital projects from concept to startup and handoff.
Provide advanced troubleshooting and training; maintain documentation.
