Job summary

HID Global is seeking an Automation Engineer IV to join the Manufacturing Engineering team in Austin. You will design, build, and optimize manufacturing automation equipment from concept through production deployment, applying a hands-on approach to mechanical, electrical, and controls development.

The role requires 7+ years in engineering equipment development, strong problem-solving, and the ability to collaborate across Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, Quality, and suppliers to deliver

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or similar field.
• 7+ years of Engineering Equipment Development experience.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Dependable team player, able to work independently in fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Designing, building, and developing custom automation equipment from concept through production deployment.
• Hands-on mechanical, electrical, and controls development including fabrication, assembly, integration, testing, and iteration.
• Researching automation equipment market to inform development strategies and accelerate builds.
• Developing automation solutions by building from scratch or modifying existing equipment.
• Designing custom features, add-ons, and performance enhancements for HID use cases.
• Owning prototype-to-production lifecycle, including POC, validation, and production handoff.
• Troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, software, and system-level issues on equipment.
• Collaborating with Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, Quality, and suppliers to ensure robust designs.
