Job summary

Collins Aerospace in Miramar, FL is seeking a skilled machinist for onsite roles. You will set up and run manual machines, inspect parts with precision gauges, and ensure tight tolerances while maintaining safety and quality in daily production tasks.

Ideal candidates have HS diploma or equivalent with 4+ years in manual machining, blueprint reading, and precision measurement. Onsite role with comprehensive benefits and continuous training available.

Qualifications

• Typically requires HS diploma (or equivalent) or vocational/ technical education with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.
• Experience setting up and operating manual machine tools.
• Ability to read, interpret, and work from blueprints and technical drawings.
• Ability to machine and inspect parts to close tolerances, including ±0.0002 inches.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.

Responsibilities

• Set up and run machines and inspection equipment.
• Operate coordinate measuring machines for accurate inspection checks.
• Eliminate defects in set-up and operation of equipment.
• Input and retrieve information from the computer system for daily activities.
• Participate in CORE continuous improvement and EH&S activities.
• Operate jig bores, lathes, mills, grinders and other specialized manual equipment.
• Perform finish work and marking of piece parts in production stages.
• Maintain an organized and safe work environment and drive improvements in the machine shop.
• Complete all paperwork associated with tasks performed.
• Perform preventive maintenance as prescribed by engineering.
• Keep up to date with required training.
• Maintain accurate documentation and system inputs (shop traveler, labor charging, production tracking software, inspection results).
