Job summary

CenterPoint Energy seeks a Manager of Technical Accounting & Policy in Houston to lead a team researching and documenting complex accounting matters under US GAAP and SEC rules. You will guide policy development and ensure lease accounting (ASC 842) accuracy, while supporting cross-functional initiatives.

You will collaborate with executives, monitor regulatory changes, and maintain strong SOX controls, bringing deep accounting knowledge and leadership to the organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business from an accredited college.
• CPA certification required.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of technical accounting analysts on complex and non-routine transactions.
• Advise stakeholders on accounting implications of strategic transactions.
• Monitor GAAP/SEC/FERC developments and communicate implications.
• Oversee ASC 842 lease accounting processes and SOX controls.
• Develop, review, and communicate accounting policies and guidance.
• Drive ad-hoc technical accounting and process improvement projects.
