Job summary

AES Corporation is seeking a Sr. Manager Technical Accounting to lead complex US GAAP accounting, research and memos, and support the M&A process. You will collaborate with Commercial, Treasury and Audit teams, develop company-specific accounting policies, and supervise junior staff while maintaining SOX compliance.

The role requires seven-plus years of progressive experience in technical accounting, a CPA license, and strong communication skills for executive audiences.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance/Business from an accredited college.
• CPA certification with active license in the United States.
• Minimum seven years of progressive US GAAP experience at a public company or Big 4.
• Energy/utility industry experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Research, document and review complex accounting transactions under US GAAP.
• Review analyses to ensure consistency with precedent and global conclusions.
• Support TA teams with timely accounting analysis for proposed transactions.
• Advise on deal structure to support M&A decisions.
• Supervise junior technical accounting staff and mentor when needed.
• Stay current on new GAAP guidance and communicate impacts to departments.
• Prepare footnote disclosures and participate in external filings.
