Job summary

PCI Pharma Services is seeking a Materials Manager to oversee all aspects of inventory, warehousing, and shipping in a GMP environment. You will coordinate with Supply Chain, Production, QA, and Manufacturing to ensure accurate material handling and cost-effective support for operations.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in pharmaceutical materials management, strong ERP/MRP experience, and a proven ability to lead teams and manage multiple priorities in a regulated setting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in business, management or related discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing with at least 2 years experience in materials management.
  • Experience in ERP/MRP systems and their use in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience shipping dangerous goods; DOT & IATA Training.
  • Experience managing up to 10 direct reports.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Works closely with the Supply Chain team to manage the material flow and inventory accuracy efficiently, to ensure integrity of onsite materials and to lead the materials department to provide cost efficient support to the operation.
  • Stores and ships product by developing warehousing policies and procedures; implementing inventory movement systems; developing traffic and shipping policies and procedures; examining and resolving delays.
  • Represents Supply Chain in audits by hosting warehouse tours / discussions.
  • Works with clients on proposing and sourcing components.
  • Provides technical expertise to other departments as part of cross-functional project teams.
  • Consults with clients on receiving procedures or validation of shipping procedures.
  • Manages overall activities of location such as receiving, order fulfillment, shipping, etc. in compliance with space availability, production output, order requirements, and business plans.
  • Coordinates functions of production and inventory control and manages inventory levels.
  • Frequently interact with supervisors, customers and of functional peer group managers and materials are being tracked and monitored to meet corporate goals and objectives.
  • Responsible for Suppliers relationship management ensuring consistency of supply.
  • Manages inventory by determining and maintaining optimum inventory and cost levels.
  • Analyzes and evaluates problems with inventory, delivery, and/or sales orders and recommends appropriate solutions.
  • Interfaces with vendors on special orders, supplies and/or materials. May track sales shipments, delivery, billing and backlog activity.
  • Provides management control information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends.
  • Supervises and assists the production planning department; supports and champions planning initiatives and activity through influencing and coordinating with other departmental leaders across the company
  • Responsible for exhibiting professional behavior with both internal and external business associates that reflects positively on the company and is consistent with the company's policies and practices.
  • Regular and reliable attendance on a full time basis.
  • Embodies PCI's cultural values and aligns daily actions with department goals and company culture.
  • Responsible for Quality systems and Change controls within materials management.
  • Participates in harmonization processes between PCI sites, as needed.
  • Support scheduling activities by monitoring material inventories, tracking progress of production and reviewing factors that affect schedules
  • Responsible for accuracy of inventory counts by implementing and managing, in conjunction with Purchasing, an inventory control system, capable of identifying discrepancies in inventory counts and critical component traceability
  • Adhere to established company policies, procedures, terms and conditions and legal matters that affect purchasing policies
  • Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by implementing, maintaining and aligning company policies that adhere to local, state and federal environmental, health and safety regulations
  • Oversee and lend support to employees receiving, inspecting, assigning lot numbers and completing documentation and logs for all incoming materials

COMMUNICATIONS & CONTACTS -
  • Works closely with Manufacturing, Quality Assurance and Quality Control staff in performing varied work procedures and activities. Interacts with Operations staff.
MANAGERIAL & SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES -
  • Responsible for leading, motivating and directing activities of staff members.
  • Performs staff evaluations and develop the team.
  • Must be able to observe and identify potential issues and address satisfactorily
Work Environment:

Employee will work with moderate noise level. Employee will perform tasks while experiencing numerous interruptions. Employee may occasionally be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, toxic chemicals, vibration, and bio-hazardous materials.

Required:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills

  • Detail oriented and able to multitask
  • At least 5 years progressive experience in management of materials and inventory within a GMP setting, FDA regulated, manufacturing environment
  • Experience in total quality, six sigma, or other similar environments
  • Knowledge and understanding of ERP/MRP systems and their use in a manufacturing environment, System Implementation experience highly preferred
  • Experience shipping dangerous goods, DOT & IATA Training, international shipments import / export regulations.
  • Experience managing up to 10 direct reports
  • Intermediate Computer Skills: Ability to perform more complex computer tasks and has knowledge of various computer programs.
  • Full Professional Proficiency: Ability to speak, read, and write fluently and accurately on all levels pertinent to professional needs.
  • Very High Reasoning: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Be able to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in math or diagram form and deal with several abstract/concrete variables.
  • Ability to Travel
  • Bachelor's Degree in business, management or other related discipline
  • 5+ Years of experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing with at least 2 years experience in materials management
Preferred:
  • Previous supervisory experience is preferred
  • Ability to effectively present information to various people as the job requires.
  • Ability to work independently and/or part of a team.
  • Ability to display excellent time management skills.
  • Ability to display a willingness to make decisions.
