Acuity Inc. in Cork is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead a high-performing software engineering team delivering secure, scalable, cloud-native solutions.

You will participate in architecture reviews, mentor engineers, and ensure delivery excellence within an Agile Release Train. The role combines people and technical leadership, requires hands-on engagement, and collaboration with product, architecture, DevOps, and security teams.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience leading software engineering teams in modern product or platform organizations.
  • Strong people leadership experience including coaching, mentoring, hiring, and organizational development.
  • Previous hands-on software engineering experience delivering cloud-native applications and services.
  • Strong understanding of software engineering fundamentals, architecture, distributed systems, APIs, and modern development practices.
  • Experience working within Agile environments and preferably within SAFe frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of CI/CD, DevOps, automation, infrastructure, testing, and operational excellence.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, and influencing skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, coach, and develop software engineers of varying levels of experience.
  • Build and maintain a high-performing engineering organization focused on quality, customer value, and technical excellence.
  • Support career development through coaching, performance management, and development planning.
  • Drive hiring, onboarding, succession planning, and talent development activities.
  • Partner with Lead Engineers and Architects to ensure engineering decisions support long-term platform sustainability.
  • Remain actively engaged in technical discussions, architecture reviews, design reviews, and engineering planning activities.
  • Provide guidance on software architecture, cloud-native design, distributed systems, reliability, observability, and security.
  • Help teams navigate complex technical challenges and architectural trade-offs.
  • Promote engineering excellence through modern software development practices, testing, automation, observability, and DevOps.
  • Support critical production incidents, root cause analysis efforts, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Lead engineering execution for Agile teams operating within an Agile Release Train (ART).
  • Partner with Product Management and Delivery Leads to align engineering capacity with product priorities and PI objectives.
  • Support PI Planning, ART Syncs, System Demos, Inspect & Adapt workshops.
  • Drive predictable, high-quality software delivery through planning, execution, dependency management, and risk mitigation.
  • Collaborate with DevOps, CloudOps, Security, Enterprise Architecture, and Data Architecture teams.
  • Build strong partnerships across Engineering, Product, Architecture, and Business organizations.
  • Communicate engineering priorities, delivery status, technical risks, and organizational objectives.
  • Contribute to roadmap planning, workforce planning, and organizational growth strategies.

Job Summary

At the Acuity Digital Center of Excellence in Cork, we are building a modern AI-powered Commerce Platform delivered through Agile teams operating on an Agile Release Train (ART) aligned to Essential SAFe principles. Our teams build cloud-native platforms, AI-enabled services, and digital commerce capabilities that transform how customers discover, configure, purchase, and interact with our products and services. We are looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to lead and grow a high-performing team of software engineering professionals delivering secure, scalable, and highly available cloud-native solutions. This role combines people leadership, technical leadership, and delivery excellence. While this is primarily a leadership position, successful candidates will need to remain technically engaged. You will participate in architecture reviews, guide technical decision-making working with lead engineers, coach engineers of all levels, review designs, support operational excellence initiatives, and help teams solve complex engineering challenges.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
Engineering Leadership
  • Lead, mentor, coach, and develop software engineers of varying levels of experience.
