Job description

Restructuring & Special Situations – Manager / Senior Manager

Location: New York / Flexible

Sector: Restructuring, Turnaround & Special Situations

We are partnering with a highly regarded restructuring and special situations advisory business that is expanding its team following significant growth.

This is a hands-on, client-facing opportunity for an experienced restructuring professional who enjoys being close to the detail while also working directly with senior management teams, boards, lenders, legal advisers and other key stakeholders.

The role sits within a specialist team advising companies and stakeholders through complex distressed situations, including restructurings, liquidity challenges, wind-downs, bankruptcies and other special situations.

The Role

You will work directly with senior leadership across multiple live engagements, taking responsibility for day-to-day execution and helping clients navigate complex and often time-sensitive situations.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Owning key workstreams across restructuring and distressed advisory engagements
  • Working directly with management teams, boards, lenders, investors and legal advisers
  • Preparing financial analysis, presentations and stakeholder materials
  • Supporting liquidity analysis, cash flow forecasting and contingency planning
  • Managing multiple concurrent engagements and deadlines
  • Supporting Chapter 11, out-of-court restructuring, wind-down and liquidation situations
  • Developing practical recommendations and helping drive them through execution
  • Working closely with senior leaders on engagement strategy and client management
Candidate Profile

We are looking for professionals with approximately 6–10 years of relevant experience within restructuring, turnaround, special situations, transaction advisory or a related advisory environment.

Ideal experience may include:

  • Corporate restructuring or turnaround advisory
  • 13-week cash flow and liquidity analysis
  • Chapter 11 or out-of-court restructurings
  • Debtor, creditor or lender advisory
  • Cash management and contingency planning
  • Wind-downs or corporate liquidations
  • Distressed asset or 363 sale processes
  • Receiverships, Article 9 sales or Assignments for the Benefit of Creditors

Direct fiduciary experience is helpful but not essential.

The successful candidate will be commercially minded, highly analytical and comfortable operating independently. You should also be confident presenting to senior stakeholders while remaining willing to work hands-on within the underlying analysis and execution.

Why Consider It?

This is an opportunity to join a specialist team with a strong reputation in complex restructuring situations while benefiting from the capabilities and resources of a significantly broader advisory platform.

The role offers
  • Direct exposure to senior decision-makers and complex client situations
  • Greater responsibility and autonomy than is typically available within larger restructuring teams
  • A broad mix of restructuring, special situations and fiduciary work
  • Exposure across the full lifecycle of distressed situations — from initial liquidity challenges through restructuring, sale, wind-down or resolution
  • The opportunity to work closely with highly experienced senior restructuring professionals
