Job summary

Partners for Rural Impact (PRI) is seeking a Senior Manager, Payroll Operations & Accounting to lead our full-cycle payroll for a multi-state workforce. This remote position requires deep expertise in payroll accounting, PEBT, and tax administration, with hands-on oversight of a third-party provider and internal controls.

You will optimize payroll processes, maintain accurate records, and support employee experience through clear communications and timely processing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field required.
• CPP certification preferred, not required.
• 7+ years of progressive payroll experience with multi-state operations.

Responsibilities

• Lead full-cycle payroll operations for a multi-state employee population and oversee the external payroll provider.
• Maintain hands-on involvement across data prep, calculations, processing, reconciliation, and post-payroll activities.
• Oversee system configuration, tax setup, integrations, and regulatory updates with the payroll provider.
• Ensure accuracy of earnings, deductions, taxes, and benefit contributions.
• Develop and maintain payroll calendars, controls, and documentation.
• Manage year-end payroll activities including W-2 reconciliation.
