Job summary

Charles Schwab is seeking an experienced Performance Test Engineer to optimize scalable testing solutions and monitoring across distributed environments. The role emphasizes automation, agile collaboration, and SLA-driven delivery while supporting both production and non-production systems.

You will work with modern tooling (JMeter, LoadRunner, BlazeMeter, New Relic, AWS CloudWatch) and mentor junior engineers, with 100% remote work option and HQ reporting from Westlake, TX.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field required.
• 96 months of progressive, post-Bachelor’s experience in performance testing, monitoring and tuning.
• Experience with JMeter, LoadRunner or BlazeMeter for scripting.
• Experience with New Relic and AWS CloudWatch for monitoring.
• Documentation and tracking of results using Confluence and Jira.
• Performance tuning and optimization to reduce bottlenecks.
• Monitoring applications and identifying bottlenecks using relevant tools.

Responsibilities

• Develop highly available and scalable performance testing solutions with monitoring and alerting.
• Perform engineer performance testing within agile scrum and establish SLAs for infrastructure and deployments.
• Guide teams on policies, alerts, dashboards, and configurations for visibility.
• Test APIs, abstractions, and integration patterns for distributed computing.
• Collaborate with product owners to break down stories and prioritize tasks.
• Contribute to Continuous Delivery by automating builds and deployments.
• Analyze configuration management issues in production and non-production environments.
• Develop and maintain performance scripts and models.
• Identify tech gaps and risks and create mitigation plans.
• Collaborate with dispersed teams to complete tasks and optimize resources.
• Mentor junior team members and ensure features meet SLAs.
