Job summary

Supermicro is seeking a Sr Manager, Optical Manufacturing Engineering to lead development and production of next-generation high-speed optical interconnect solutions for AI and hyperscale data centers. You will drive optical integration, packaging, and manufacturing process optimization in a fast-paced global environment.

The role focuses on Co-Packaged Optics (CPO), Optical Transceivers, OCS, and 800G/1.6T modules, with travel to offshore sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. or MS degree in Electrical Engineering, Photonics, Optical Engineering, Physics, or Materials Science.
• 8+ years of experience in optical communication systems, photonics technologies, and/or electronics manufacturing.
• Strong expertise in optical transceivers, silicon photonics, CPO, OCS, and fiber-optic communication.
• Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and statistical analysis tools (Minitab, Power BI).
• Excellent English communication and interpersonal skills; travel willingness.

Responsibilities

• Develop optical integration processes for interconnects, transceivers, and photonic manufacturing equipment.
• Lead full-cycle integration of active optical components onto PICs or electronic substrates for 800G/1.6T modules.
• Scale transition prototypes into scalable, high-volume production with cross-functional teams.
• Oversee daily production operations for optical and electronic assemblies and drive quality improvements.
