Walmart is seeking a dynamic process strategist to enhance online grocery operations. This role involves collaborating cross-functionally to optimize workflows and drive improvements using engineering principles and lean methodologies. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in process design and a passion for operational excellence.
What You Will Do
• Support the design and optimization of backroom associate workflows for online grocery pickup and delivery operations across multiple fulfillment formats.
• Apply engineering principles (e.g., time and motion studies, capacity modeling, layout design) to develop and enhance operational processes.
• Partner with cross-functional teams (Product, Operations, Tech, and Field) to translate complex operational needs into scalable process solutions.
• Conduct detailed process analysis using metrics, observational studies, and associate feedback to identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies.
• Utilize data and simulation tools to model workflow scenarios and make fact-based recommendations that improve speed, accuracy, and labor efficiency.
• Create clear documentation, SOPs, and visual process maps that guide field execution and ensure consistency across locations.
• Lead POCs and testing of new processes, gathering data to validate assumptions and refine strategies before broad deployment.
• Drive continuous improvement efforts by implementing lean principles, Six Sigma tools, and automation ideas where applicable.
• Collaborate with tech and product teams to ensure physical process changes align with system capabilities and constraints.
• Influence key stakeholders by delivering insights, presentations, and project updates that are rooted in engineering logic and operational impact.
What You’ll Bring (Qualifications)
• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline (Master’s a plus).
• 3+ years of experience in process improvement, operations design, supply chain, or fulfillment environments — preferably in high-volume or retail settings.
• Proven ability to apply engineering and lean methodologies (e.g., time studies, value stream mapping, root cause analysis, 5S, Six Sigma).
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret complex data sets, develop KPIs, and translate insights into actionable strategies.
• Experience with process simulation tools, workflow mapping software, or data visualization platforms (e.g., Visio, Power BI, Excel, Tableau).
• Familiarity with project management principles — able to manage timelines, coordinate across teams, and drive execution in a fast-paced environment.
• Exceptional communication skills and the ability to influence across functions without direct authority.
• A systems thinker who is detail-oriented yet able to see the big picture, balancing long-term process scalability with near-term operational needs.
• Passion for continuous improvement and a mindset that embraces iteration, testing, and innovation.
• Comfort working in both field and office environments — willing to travel as needed to observe, test, and implement solutions on the ground.
