Job summary

Equinix is seeking a Senior Manager, Onsite Power Generation to lead the commercial evaluation of onsite and co-sited generation opportunities across Equinix's data center portfolio. You will identify, diligence, structure, and negotiate generation solutions including fuel cells, natural gas generators, gas turbines, engines, and energy storage systems.

Role requires deep technical fluency, commercial judgment, and strong negotiation skills to assess viability in mission-critical environments,

Qualifications

Typically 8+ years of experience in energy project development, power generation, distributed energy resources, energy origination, utility/IPPs, power procurement, engineering, or related infrastructure fields.
Deep technical understanding of onsite power generation technologies such as fuel cells, natural gas generators, gas turbines, reciprocating engines, battery storage, long-duration storage, demand response resources, and other distributed energy technologies.
Experience evaluating, structuring, and negotiating complex energy or infrastructure agreements (PPAs, tolling, capacity agreements).
Strong commercial judgment translating technical requirements into risk allocation, pricing structures, and executive-level recommendations.
Proven ability to manage vendor, developer, IPP, OEM, utility, consultant, and internal stakeholder relationships.
Experience working cross-functionally with engineering, construction, operations, legal, finance, procurement, and sustainability teams in complex projects.
Strong written and verbal communication skills to simplify technical and commercial issues for senior audiences.

Responsibilities

Opportunity origination and screening for onsite, co-sited, and distributed generation opportunities.
Transaction structuring for PPAs, tolling, capacity agreements, leases, and other transaction types.
Vendor and developer negotiations as the primary commercial interface.
Risk allocation and governance with Legal and internal stakeholders.
Business case development covering energy cost, capacity value, non-energy costs, incentives, environmental attributes, fuel costs, standby charges, revenue impacts.
Execution handoff with Energy Asset Management for clear documentation and transition.
Market and technology strategy to standardize repeatable commercial frameworks.
Executive communication presenting recommendations to senior leadership.
