Location

This role offers the flexibility to be based remotely within the eastern or central United States and will require travel across the country, with a concentration in IL, OH, MI, IN, PA, TN, MD, NJ, & WV. Our ideal candidate will live near a major airport in the Great Lakes Region, Mid-West, or Mid-Atlantic region and/or near one of our office locations, for a hybrid work structure. The position requires at least 60% travel, with expenses covered by Constellation’s travel policy.

Primary Purpose Of Position

The Senior Manager of Sales will report to the Executive Director of Regional Sales. They will lead a team of Business Development Managers (BDMs), responsible for developing and executing acquisition of new Energy Efficiency projects, aligned with our growth objectives. The role involves leading outside sales teams, developing customer relationships, and driving sales performance in designated territories, primarily focusing on government and SLED/MUSH markets.

Primary Duties And Accountabilities
  1. Manage and guide a team of BDMs, driving their sales performance and pipeline development within defined territories.
  2. Lead and mentor the sales team, ensuring they stay informed of industry trends and regulatory changes.
  3. Develop and implement sales strategies aligned with a consultative sales approach.
  4. Conduct regular pipeline reviews, support customer meetings, and assist with proposals and presentations.
  5. Enhance team visibility and network within territories through prospecting and relationship management.
  6. Handle administrative responsibilities including performance reviews, hiring, and team management.
  7. Create and manage sales forecasts, monitor KPIs, and generate performance reports.
  8. Collaborate with internal teams to ensure customer needs are met and projects are delivered on time and within budget.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and at least 10 years of solutions-based sales experience in relevant industries such as energy contracting, infrastructure upgrades, or sustainability projects.
  • Or extensive experience selling in other industries with established contacts in government or education sectors.
  • Prior sales management experience in a consultative environment.
  • Proven success in developing and managing sales territories, closing complex transactions, and maintaining executive relationships.
  • Strong analytical, planning, and CRM skills.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills; fluency in English required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Over 4 years of sales management experience.
  • Deep understanding of building and mechanical infrastructure technologies.
  • Experience with long sales cycles and formal sales training.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Dynamics 365 or similar CRM systems.
