Job summary

Jobot is seeking a Senior Manager, Modern Workplace Architecture in Providence, RI for a hybrid/permanent role. The role leads enterprise-wide workplace architecture, Windows endpoint strategy, and modernization across a complex environment to deliver secure, scalable employee experiences.

The ideal leader has 10+ years in end-user technology and 3–5+ years in management, with strong vendor management, and a track record of defining enterprise standards and roadmaps.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in IT, CS, Engineering, or related field.
• 10+ years in end-user technology engineering, architecture, or IT infrastructure leadership.
• 3–5+ years of management experience.
• Proven experience defining enterprise standards, architectures, and roadmaps.
• Strong background in hardware, OS, software distribution, and endpoint management.
• Experience with Office 365, plug-in management, and virtual client-side environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end strategy, architecture, and engineering of the enterprise modern workplace.
• Provide technical leadership for endpoint, mobility, workstation engineering, and virtualization.
• Own Windows workstation architecture and lifecycle management, including imaging and device deployment.
• Lead Intune and Windows Autopilot strategy, including device configuration and compliance.
• Oversee enterprise software packaging, distribution, and deployment.
• Establish hardware, OS, endpoint configuration, and identity integration standards.
• Develop patch and release management strategies for security and reliability.
• Lead endpoint security engineering, including encryption and compliance controls.
• Oversee mobility engineering and VDI platforms (AVD, VMware Horizon).
• Drive DEX tools adoption to monitor performance and improve experience.
• Evaluate emerging technologies via PoC and pilot programs.
• Identify AI opportunities to improve productivity and experience.
• Set architecture standards, governance, documentation, and metrics.
• Provide oversight for Windows 11, modernization, and device lifecycle programs.
• Manage vendors, MSPs, contracts, licensing, budgets, and cost optimization.
• Mentor and develop a high-performing engineering team.
• Collaborate with IT and business to drive adoption and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end strategy, architecture, and engineering of the enterprise modern workplace environment, ensuring security, scalability, reliability, and alignment with business priorities.
• Provide technical leadership and accountability for endpoint, mobility, workstation engineering, and virtualization platforms.
• Own Windows workstation architecture and lifecycle management, including enterprise imaging, configuration standards, build processes, and device deployment.
• Lead Microsoft Intune and Windows Autopilot strategy, including device configuration, compliance policies, and automated device provisioning.
• Oversee enterprise software packaging, distribution, and deployment to ensure secure and consistent application delivery.
• Establish hardware, operating system, endpoint configuration, and identity integration standards across the organization.
• Develop and execute patch and release management strategies to maintain security, compliance, and system reliability while minimizing business disruption.
• Lead endpoint security engineering, including encryption, endpoint protection, and compliance controls.
• Oversee mobility engineering and virtual desktop platforms, including Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) and VMware Horizon.
• Drive the selection and implementation of Digital Employee Experience (DEX) tools to monitor performance, identify issues proactively, and improve the employee experience.
• Evaluate emerging technologies through proof-of-concept initiatives and pilot programs.
• Identify opportunities to incorporate AI capabilities into the workplace environment and improve employee productivity.
• Establish architecture standards, engineering practices, governance processes, documentation, and performance metrics.
• Provide technical oversight for major initiatives involving Windows 11, endpoint modernization, virtual desktop transformation, and device lifecycle programs.
• Manage technology vendors, managed service providers, contracts, licensing, budgets, and cost optimization.
• Serve as the escalation point for complex endpoint, virtualization, and workplace technology issues.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing engineering team, fostering accountability, technical excellence, and continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with IT and business stakeholders to drive adoption, improve service reliability, and deliver a customer‑centric workplace experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in end-user technology engineering, architecture, or related IT infrastructure leadership.
• At least 3–5 years of management experience.
• Proven experience defining and implementing enterprise technology standards, architectures, and roadmaps.
• Strong technical background in hardware standards, operating systems, software distribution, and endpoint management.
• Experience with Office 365, plug‑in management, and virtual client‑side environments.
• Demonstrated ability to manage vendors, budgets, technology deployments, and cross‑functional initiatives.
• Strong leadership, communication, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in the utilities industry or another highly regulated environment.
• Relevant certifications, such as Microsoft Certified: Endpoint Administrator Expert, ITIL, or equivalent.
• Experience with Digital Employee Experience tools, virtualization, and modern device management platforms such as Microsoft Intune or SCCM.
