Job summary

Grainger seeks a Senior Manager, Benefits (Leave, Disability & Time Off) to lead the design and ongoing improvement of U.S. leave, disability, accommodations and paid time off. You’ll partner with internal stakeholders and external providers to optimize performance, costs, and compliance.

The role supervises two benefits staff and collaborates across HR, Legal, Payroll, and Finance, with a hybrid on-site requirement in Lake Forest or Chicago. Strong leadership and vendor management are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in HR, Finance, Business Admin or related field required.
• Master's degree in HR, Business Admin, Finance preferred.
• 7+ years of experience in employee benefits including plan design and vendor management.
• Experience leading teams and projects within benefits or total rewards.
• Knowledge of ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA and IRS requirements.
• Experience communicating benefit strategies to leaders and vendors.

Responsibilities

• Design, administer, and improve leave, disability, accommodation, and PTO programs.
• Benchmark, analyze, and report program performance, costs, and risks.
• Partner with HR, Legal, Payroll, Benefits, Finance, and external vendors.
• Manage external consultants and brokerage relationships; oversee SLAs and renewals.
• Lead benefits team members and resolve escalations in operations.
• Ensure compliance with applicable requirements and monitor regulatory changes.
• Oversee workflows, data integrity, and reporting for operations.
• Develop policies, communications, training, and change plans.
