Job summary

Vertex Pharmaceuticals is seeking an experienced revenue accounting professional in Boston to lead ASC 606 evaluations for new product launches, contracts and reimbursement agreements. You will partner with global accounting, finance and commercial teams to support revenue reporting and disclosures, prepare memos and schedules, and assist with audits.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Accounting/Finance, about 7 years of pharmaceutical revenue accounting experience, CPA preferred, and strong MS

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Typically 7 years of progressive accounting experience in pharmaceutical or life science revenue accounting or a technical accounting role.
  • Public accounting experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform revenue recognition evaluations under ASC 606 for new product launches, new contracts, and reimbursement agreements.
  • Review new agreements and complex gross-to-net matters and ensure technical accounting conclusions are applied consistently by local accounting teams.
  • Document accounting policies related to revenue and gross-to-net in collaboration with International and North America teams.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams that review and support the contract drafting process.
  • Work with global accounting, finance, and commercial teams to support revenue reporting requirements.
  • Assist SEC Reporting with revenue-related disclosures for filings.
  • Support quarterly and annual reviews and audits with memos, schedules, and auditor requests.

Job Description Key Responsibilities
  • Perform revenue recognition evaluations under ASC 606 for new product launches, new contracts, and reimbursement agreements
  • Review new agreements and complex gross-to-net matters and help ensure technical accounting conclusions are applied consistently and appropriately by local accounting teams
  • Document accounting policies related to revenue and gross-to-net matters in collaboration with International and North America revenue accounting teams, as needed
  • Partner with cross-functional teams that review and support the contract drafting process
  • Work closely with global accounting, finance, and commercial organizations to support internal and external financial revenue reporting requirements
  • Partner with the SEC Reporting team to prepare revenue-related disclosures for SEC filings
  • Support quarterly and annual reviews and audits through preparation of revenue recognition memos, audit schedules, and other auditor requests
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Typically requires 7 years of progressive accounting experience in pharmaceutical or life science revenue accounting or a technical accounting role, or the equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Public accounting experience required
Preferred Qualifications
  • CPA preferred
  • Knowledge of US GAAP revenue accounting guidance, including ASC 606
  • Experience researching revenue accounting and complex gross-to-net accounting matters
  • Experience preparing accounting documentation, memos, and revenue-related disclosures
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Strong written communication and memo drafting skills
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to collaborate across and within different levels of the organization
  • Ability to effectively present complex accounting analyses to senior management
Pay Range

Pay Range: $128,900 - $193,300 Disclosure Statement: The range provided is based on what we believe is a reasonable estimate for the base salary pay range for this job at the time of posting. This role is eligible for an annual bonus and annual equity awards. Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay, in accordance with federal and state requirements. Actual base salary pay will be based on a number of factors, including skills, competencies, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
