About Slate

Slate is an innovative company in the electric vehicle space, rapidly scaling and building a digitally enabled finance function to support data-driven decision-making, internal controls, and operational agility.

Role Overview

We seek a strategic, execution-focused Senior Manager to develop finance systems and processes. This business-led, cross-functional role involves defining and owning requirements for Finance & Accounting capabilities, from procure-to-pay to financial planning. Unlike modernizing legacy systems, this is an opportunity to design new processes and tools collaboratively with Finance, Accounting, IT, and Purchasing. The candidate should excel in white-space environments, balancing long-term vision with short-term execution. A key focus will be leading the delivery of systems and control capabilities identified in a recent assessment, ensuring readiness for scale and strategic flexibility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Define, document, and prioritize business requirements for core systems like ERP (NetSuite), EPM, and financial tools.
  • Build and improve processes across procure-to-pay, record-to-report, inventory/costing, and financial planning.
  • Lead cross-functional systems initiatives, collaborating with IT to shape the finance technology vision.
  • Deliver improvements based on recent assessments of finance capabilities and controls.
  • Act as a liaison between Finance/Accounting and IT, ensuring solutions meet business needs.
  • Standardize policies, workflows, and procedures for audit readiness and data integrity.
  • Coordinate testing, training, and change management for new systems.
  • Monitor and enhance finance system governance, including access controls and internal controls.
Qualifications
  • 10+ years in Finance, Accounting, or Operations, with 5+ years in systems enablement or process design.
  • Bachelor's in Accounting or Finance; MBA preferred.
  • Strong understanding of finance processes and systems capabilities.
  • Experience with ERP (preferably NetSuite), EPM, procurement, or close tools.
  • Proven project leadership in fast-paced, cross-functional environments.
  • Excellent communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented, process-minded, and comfortable managing ambiguity.
  • High integrity in handling financial data and controls.
