Job description

The Senior Finance & Accounting Manager is responsible for leading the organization’s accounting and financial operations, including financial reporting, budgeting, treasury, audit, tax, billing and collections. This position oversees accounting processes and internal controls, manages and develops accounting staff, and provides financial analysis to support leadership and strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements, including consolidated reporting for multiple entities.
  • Oversee the month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, account reconciliations and financial analysis.
  • Manage the annual budgeting and forecasting process and provide ongoing budget-to-actual analysis to leadership.
  • Oversee day-to-day accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable, payroll, fixed assets, debt activity and property taxes.
  • Manage cash flow, treasury activities and short- and long-term cash forecasting.
  • Coordinate the annual financial audit, tax return preparation and other regulatory or financial reporting requirements.
  • Oversee billing and collections activities and ensure effective processes and controls are in place.
  • Maintain and strengthen accounting policies, procedures and internal controls.
  • Evaluate financial systems and recommend process improvements, technology enhancements and automation opportunities.
  • Provide financial analysis and guidance to senior leadership and participate in cross-functional business discussions.
  • Support financing transactions and work with outside advisors, lenders, consultants and other financial partners as needed.
  • Lead, mentor and develop accounting and finance team members, including performance management, goal setting and hiring.
  • Promote strong financial controls, compliance and risk management throughout the organization.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
  • CPA preferred.
  • Nonprofit accounting experience is required.
  • 10+ years of accounting and finance experience.
  • 5+ years of management or supervisory experience.
  • Healthcare industry experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting and internal controls.
  • Experience overseeing audits, tax compliance and multi-entity accounting.
  • Strong financial modeling and analytical skills.
  • Advanced Excel skills required; experience with Microsoft Dynamics or similar ERP systems preferred.
  • Ability to analyze complex financial information and communicate findings clearly to senior leadership.
  • Strong leadership, organizational and problem-solving skills.
