This role is accountable for managing operations and financial performance of Plant Operations, including maintenance and repair of facilities, mechanical, electrical, plumbing systems, and grounds, ensuring a safe working environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee engineering and maintenance functions for a facility with >150 inpatient beds and over 1 million square feet of occupied space.
- Create and manage an annual facilities operational budget, including utility forecasting.
- Ensure compliance with all Life Safety and Environment of Care standards as per The Joint Commission.
- Manage the safe operation of facilities and lead engineering staff.
- Coordinate maintenance and engineering tasks through in-house teams or service contracts.
- Supervise multiple facilities via subordinate managers, overseeing costs, methods, and staffing.
- Engage regularly with senior management regarding plant operations and facilities issues.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory agencies, including AHCA and The Joint Commission.
- Develop and implement policies, procedures, and departmental guidelines.
- Maintain documentation and report on department performance, including financial, regulatory compliance, utility costs, and customer service.
- Participate in projects and assignments from senior leadership.
- Collaborate on space planning, project management, and construction coordination.
- Monitor supply vendors and contracted services for quality and financial performance.
- Manage utility costs and collaborate on energy reduction initiatives.
- Develop a 5-year capital replacement plan and oversee capital projects.
- Act as the facility liaison for development projects and ensure construction meets facility needs.
- Handle HR functions like hiring, performance management, and coaching.
- Ensure regular attendance and compliance with organizational policies and standards.
Qualifications:
- Associate degree or high school diploma with 2+ years management experience.
- Certified Healthcare Facility Manager (CHFM) or Certified Professional Maintenance Manager (CPMM).
- 10+ years of facilities experience, including 5+ years in healthcare facility engineering management.
- Knowledge of NFPA, TJC, CMS, AHCA standards, and authorities having jurisdiction.
