Registered Nurse - Days - MSICU - Bayfront Health

Administers patient care in an area in a hospital or inpatient setting where patients have an advanced illness or injury requiring timely, intense, and complex care to stabilize and support the patient's medical condition. These areas require a lower caregiver-to-patient ratio and highly trained team members with advanced skills.

Essential Functions
  1. Demonstrates critical knowledge, skills, and judgement to care for patients requiring complex assessment, therapies, high-intensity interventions, and continuous nursing vigilance.
  2. Utilizes information and assessment data to anticipate and respond to rapidly changing patient conditions.
  3. Identifies and prioritizes information to take immediate, evidence-based, patient-focused action.
  4. Monitors and adjusts specialized equipment, interprets electronic displays, and records data such as intracranial pressures, central venous pressures, pulmonary artery pressures, and cardiac rhythms.
  5. Responds to life-saving situations based on nursing standards and protocols.
  6. Assesses patient needs, develops/revises individualized care plans, and evaluates progress towards expected outcomes.
  7. Builds respectful relationships with all team members and customers, respecting diversity.
  8. Acts as a patient and family advocate.
  9. Provides care appropriate to the age of the patients served, demonstrating advanced knowledge and skills.
  10. Serves as a preceptor, charge nurse, educator, and/or clinician; collaborates with medical staff and interdisciplinary teams.
  11. Supports hospital and nursing department goals and strategies, serving as a role model.
  12. Considers growth and development principles, assesses patient data, and interprets information to meet age-specific needs.
  13. Coordinates care, delegates appropriately, and documents patient care accurately and in compliance with standards.
  14. Prioritizes patient care based on evidence-based standards, practicing effective problem resolution.
  15. Delegates tasks considering patient needs and team capabilities.
  16. Communicates effectively about patient conditions and unit concerns, providing compassionate care.
  17. Maintains awareness of legal issues and patients' rights.
  18. Collaborates with education and leadership to support new team members and students.
  19. Maintains regular, punctual attendance per policies and standards.
  20. Ensures compliance with all policies and procedures.
Other Related Functions
  • Contributes to team knowledge, skills, and quality improvement efforts.
  • Participates and leads committees, reviews, and professional development activities.
  • Uses supplies efficiently, maintains a safe work environment, and attends relevant meetings.
  • Partners with leadership for professional development and continuing education.

Education/Training
  • Graduate of an approved nursing school.
  • Meets all competency requirements for Orlando Health and the specific unit/department.
Licensure/Certification
  • Current Florida RN license or valid eNLC multistate license.
  • Current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.
  • ACLS, NRP, PALS, TNCC certifications required for certain areas, with NRP required for NICU.
Experience
  • One year of ICU experience preferred.
