Amazon Web Services (AWS) in Virginia seeks a Senior Forward Deployed Engineering Manager to lead multiple pods of FDEs across strategic enterprise customers, defining the delivery model, engineering standards, and talent strategy for the FDE practice at scale.

This role owns organizational-level outcomes, sets technical direction across concurrent customer programs, builds and scales the FDE team, and drives mechanisms to ensure engineering excellence and measurable business impact across the

Qualifications

10+ years of engineering experience.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related field, or equivalent experience.
5+ years of engineering management experience, including managing managers or large engineering teams (15+)
8+ years of experience leading the design and architecture of large-scale production systems
Experience defining technical strategy and delivery standards while managing teams across multiple concurrent programs or customer engagements
Experience communicating technical and organizational strategy to executive audiences (VP/C-suite level)

Responsibilities

Lead the FDE delivery organization across multiple customer engagements and pods; staff and structure teams for optimal coverage; travel 30–50%.
Define the technical direction for complex AI programs and align with adjacent AWS teams; influence strategic decisions.
Own production excellence at organizational scale with standards and readiness criteria.
Build and scale the FDE team; develop talent pipelines and calibrate hiring.
Accelerate transformation at portfolio level by expanding AI adoption and informing AWS roadmaps.
