Job summary

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a Senior Forward Deployed Engineering Manager to lead multiple FDE pods across several strategic enterprise customers. You will define delivery models, engineering standards, and talent strategy for the FDE practice at scale, owning organizational outcomes and driving measurable business impact.

The role oversees 15–30+ engineers, sets technical direction across concurrent programs, and represents the FDE practice to AWS senior leadership and customer

Qualifications

• 10+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 5+ years of engineering organization management experience (managing managers or large teams)
• 8+ years of leading design or architecture of new and existing systems
• Experience defining technical strategy and delivery standards for an engineering organization
• Experience managing teams across multiple concurrent programs or product lines

Responsibilities

• Lead the FDE delivery organization across multiple customer engagements and pods; staff and structure teams for optimal coverage; define engagement models and delivery cadences.
• Define technical strategy and standards for complex AI programs; align with AWS teams; influence strategic decisions.
• Own production excellence; establish operational standards, evaluation frameworks, and readiness criteria for AI systems.
• Build and scale the team; hire, develop, and retain FDE talent; coach managers; drive performance and succession.
• Accelerate transformation at portfolio level by identifying opportunities to expand AI adoption and influence product roadmaps.
