Job summary

Milwaukee Tool, part of Techtronic Industries, seeks a Manager of Design Engineering to lead design engineers and CAD designers on power tools. You will drive new product development, lifecycle support and technology integration while collaborating with product, manufacturing and commercial teams.

The role requires strong technical leadership, project management, and the ability to navigate a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering; graduate studies in business areas are a plus.
• 10+ years of engineering experience in related fields.
• Experience managing engineering departments and new product development teams.
• Strong technical cross-functional leadership.
• Financial acumen, including manufacturing cost drivers (materials, labor, overhead).
• Experience managing moderate complexity projects/subsystems of larger programs.
• Mechanical engineering aptitude with electrical systems integration experience.
• Working design knowledge of Milwaukee product technologies.
• Ability to draft comprehensive test plans and specifications.
• Proficiency with CAD/CAE tools to support robust design.
• Experience leveraging AI tools to maximize productivity and rigor.
• Experience with NVH, fluid dynamics, or thermal engineering preferred.
• Self-starter, hands-on, and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication skills.
• Willingness to travel.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering leadership and direct new product development activities within the department.
• Ensure all projects are completed on time, at cost, and within budget.
• Develop resource plans for the engineering team.
• Proactively manage risk across programs.
• Regularly present project status, schedules, and financial updates to stakeholders.
• Manage cross-functional relationships to support standardization and development.
• Recruit, develop and coach engineering team members and project leaders.
• Develop and improve business and department processes.
