Job summary

KKCO in Grand Junction, Colorado seeks a Sr. Manager, Community Connections to serve as the station’s primary conduit to the community.

You’ll build trusted relationships, bring community voices into the newsroom, and turn insights into stories and partnerships that deepen local engagement. You’ll work across News, Sales, Marketing, and leadership to ensure journalism remains responsive, trusted, and impactful.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.
• Generally, 7+ years in community engagement, journalism, nonprofit leadership, communications, public affairs, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain trusted relationships with civic, nonprofit, business, educational, government, and other stakeholders.
• Gather, analyze, and share community insights with leadership to inform decision-making and engagement.
• Partner with News to identify story opportunities and connect journalists with sources.
• Represent the station and develop partnerships that create long-term value and local impact.
• Respond to community members and stakeholders with timely, professional communication.
• Lead planning and execution of forums, town halls, and other engagement activities.
• Collaborate with News, Sales, Marketing, Operations, and leadership to create opportunities strengthening audience relationships.
• Oversee event logistics and measure engagement effectiveness.
• Develop and execute a market-wide community engagement strategy aligned with priorities.
• Lead cross-functional engagement efforts and share best practices across teams.
