Job summary

KGUN, a Scripps station in Tucson, AZ, part of The E.W. Scripps Company, seeks a Sr Mgr of Community Connections to be the station’s primary link to the community, building trusted relationships that inform journalism and foster partnerships.

You will lead day-to-day newsroom community engagement priorities, respond to audience questions and story tips, plan forums and town halls, and coordinate cross-functional outreach with News, Sales, Marketing and leadership.

Qualifications

• BS/BA in related discipline or equivalent years of experience.
• 7+ years of progressively responsible experience in community engagement, journalism, nonprofit leadership, communications, public affairs, partnership development, government relations, or related fields.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain relationships with community stakeholders to understand priorities.
• Gather, analyze, and communicate community insights to leadership to inform coverage.
• Partner with News to identify story opportunities and connect journalists with sources.
• Lead planning and execution of forums, town halls, and public-service initiatives.
• Oversee event logistics and measure engagement impact.
• Develop and execute a market-wide community engagement strategy.
• Advise leadership on community needs and opportunities.
