Job summary

Abbott is seeking a Senior Manager Specimen Bank in Abbott Park, Illinois, to lead the internal biospecimen collection across U.S. sites. The role drives expansion of IRB-approved collection, reduces biospecimen costs, and supports research, clinical studies, and product development.

You will manage site leads, ensure regulatory compliance, and align operations with strategic objectives including product submissions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Life Sciences (required).
• Minimum 2 years of Management experience.
• Minimum 10 years: Biobanking, clinical research, or specimen management within IVD industry, a laboratory, or clinical environment.

Responsibilities

• Manages biobank teams and oversees hiring, coaching, and training.
• Oversees Internal Specimen Collection Program adherence as Principal Investigator.
• Oversees procurement, receipt, processing and cataloguing of samples following IRB limitations and privacy rules.
• Ensures sample storage conditions, temperature control, and inventory management.
• Acts as point person for vendors and research partners in contract development and negotiation.
