Job summary

United Airlines in Salem, Oregon seeks a Senior Manager – Technical Operations / Maintenance to lead enterprise‑level inspections and airworthiness releases across UA repair networks. You will direct the scheduled inspections program, oversee outside vendors, and ensure compliance with FAA regulations and CAMP procedures.

The role requires extensive aviation maintenance leadership, 10+ years in large aircraft inspections, and a strong background in airframe systems.

Qualifications

  • FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certificate.
  • Advanced education and/or certification in aviation maintenance, with a technical training or equivalent.
  • 10+ years of inspection experience with large delivery aircraft.
  • 5+ years supervising aircraft maintenance or inspection personnel.
  • Knowledge of aircraft structures and systems, FAA policies, operator maintenance and inspection software.
  • Understanding of non‑destructive testing methods and standards.
  • Legal to work in the USA without sponsorship.
  • Preferred: Certification in a non‑destructive testing method; BS in Aviation Maintenance Management or a superior diploma.

Responsibilities

  • Provide enterprise‑level leadership and management strategies to ensure inspections and final airworthiness releases are achieved at airframe and engine carriers by UA licensed repair agencies in accordance with FAA guidelines and CAMP.
  • Serve as a supervisory member of the scheduled carriers’ Inspection Unit with inspection decision authority and responsibility.
  • Manage outside vendor (OSV) oversight and overall performance.
  • Display and direct everyday operational plan execution and follow‑up.
  • Screen and manage compliance with FAA‑permitted required inspections and other inspection responsibilities.
  • Manage the effectiveness of oversight application through performance metrics and continuous procedure improvement.

Education

FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certificate
BS in Aviation Maintenance Management or higher diploma
