Job summary

BART seeks a Manager of Automotive & Equipment Maintenance to lead the Non-Revenue Vehicle Maintenance Division, overseeing fleet cars, heavy equipment, and track-driven apparatus. You will direct shop operations, coordinate procurement, and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.

The role requires strong leadership, budgeting, and reporting skills, with on-call duties across a 24-hour, multi-shift operation.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in automotive technology from an accredited college or university.
• Five years of automotive and equipment maintenance and fleet administration experience with at least two years in a supervisory role.
• Knowledge of CMMS and fleet management systems; ability to implement continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Non-Revenue Vehicle Maintenance Division, including fleet cars and heavy equipment.
• Oversee shop fabrication, welding and machine shop activities and coordinate procurement.
• Develop goals, policies and priorities; manage budgets and staffing.
• Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory and quality standards; provide reports.
• Coordinate with other divisions and external agencies; supervise staff and training.
