Job summary

BART is seeking an experienced Superintendent of Power and Mechanical Maintenance to lead the inspection, maintenance, and upgrades of traction power, electrical, mechanical and elevator/escalator systems that support rail operations.

You will oversee overnight maintenance activities, coordinate with operations, engineering, and contractors, and drive improvements in reliability, safety, and efficiency while ensuring adherence to district policies and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business administration or a related field.
• Five years of maintenance and repair experience in heavy industrial electrical/mechanical systems.
• Two years of administrative and supervisory experience.
• Must possess a valid California driver’s license and mobility for field inspections.
• Knowledge of safety programs, budgeting, procurement, and bid specifications.

Responsibilities

• Oversee maintenance of traction power, electrical, mechanical, and electro-mechanical systems.
• Coordinate emergency maintenance to ensure safe, reliable service.
• Lead cross-functional teams and manage contractor performance for upgrades and testing.
• Monitor asset performance, analyze failures, and implement corrective actions.
• Develop safety culture and ensure compliance with regulations and policies.
• Prepare executive level reports and support capital improvement projects.
