Job summary

Dollar Tree, Inc. in Chesapeake, VA seeks a Manager, Assortment Planning to guide and train the assortment planners, shaping assortments by department, category, and subcategory to drive sales and margins.

You will manage 3–5 direct reports and collaborate with Merchandising, Inventory Management, and Finance to align with the top-down merchandising plan and lead category reviews and monthly performance discussions.

Qualifications

• Experience managing at least 3-5 direct reports.
• Bachelor’s degree (BA / BS / BFA) or equivalent.
• Assortment planning or merchandising background.
• Understanding of key retail operations (Merchandising, Store Ops, Logistics, Finance, IS, Planning).
• Proven experience in creation and presentation of item plans.
• Ability to consolidate, analyze, and communicate data into actionable direction.
• Ability to drive decisions using data to improve sales, profit, and assortment efficiency.
• Proven ability to lead others and work in a team.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities.
• Ability to train, manage, and motivate direct reports.
• Excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Train and standardize assortment planning processes across the team.
• Establish clusters by category and determine SKUs per category/cluster.
• Define minimum presentation quantities for SKU/cluster.
• Monitor total SKU receipt quantities and flow by cluster.
• Conduct premarket analysis to inform decisions.
• Utilize assist planning tools and tie to financial plan at dept/category level.
• Oversee training and development of the Assortment Planning organization.
• Incorporate space and presentation standards into the assortment process.
• Partner with Merchandising to shape category direction and sales plans.
• Coordinate with Inventory Management to ensure smooth receipt flow.
• Align with Merchandise Planning on plans and inventory activities.
• Participate in Category Level Merchandise Strategy Reviews.
• Participate in monthly performance reviews.
