Job summary

DigitalOcean is seeking a Senior Manager of Physical Infrastructure Engineering to lead a multidisciplinary team across electrical, mechanical, and automation engineering for AI/GPU data centers. You will own standards, drive reliability, and ensure scalable deployment across the global footprint.

You will manage vendor relationships, drive root-cause analysis, and oversee engineering sign-off for changes. Expect 20–30% travel and direct collaboration with Site Ops, Deployment, and Construction

Qualifications

• 10+ years in mission-critical engineering, including data center infrastructure.
• 5+ years leading engineering teams, including hiring and development.
• 5+ years managing outsourced engineering teams.
• Deep hands-on experience with liquid cooling systems, UPS, generators, switchgear, and controls/automation.
• Experience in site due diligence and compliance with safety requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead multidisciplinary team covering electrical, mechanical, controls/automation, and data center infrastructure engineering and construction.
• Develop and own engineering standards and specifications for AI/GPU data centers and cooling, power, and controls.
• Act as the technical authority for infrastructure issues that Site Operations and Design & Deployment cannot resolve.
• Perform engineering due diligence on new facilities before signing, including power, cooling, and electrical condition.
