Job summary

DigitalOcean is seeking a Senior Manager of Physical Infrastructure Engineering to lead electrical, mechanical, controls/automation, and infrastructure teams for global data centers. You will own engineering standards, oversee due diligence for new builds, and drive reliability across the fleet.

Responsibilities include vendor management, root-cause analysis, and oversight of CDU/UPS/generator and switchgear implementations.

Qualifications

BS in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, or related Engineering discipline.
10+ years in mission-critical engineering, including data center infrastructure.
5+ years leading engineering teams with hiring and development experience.
5+ years managing outsourced engineering teams.
Hands-on experience with liquid cooling systems and electrical infrastructure.

Responsibilities

Lead and grow a multidisciplinary engineering team across electrical, mechanical, controls/automation, and infrastructure engineering.
Develop and own engineering standards for AI/GPU data centers, including cooling, power distribution, and controls.
Act as technical authority for infrastructure issues and vendor relationships.
Perform due diligence on new sites and sign-off on electrical and cooling readiness.
Track reliability metrics and drive continual improvement across the fleet.
Travel 20-30% for site due diligence, commissioning, and vendor reviews.
