Job summary

Pinterest is seeking a Senior Manager, Engineering (M17) to lead AI foundations and proactive experiences, building and scaling teams, setting technical direction, and delivering durable impact on user experiences. You will work across foundation models, AI infrastructure, personalization, agentic systems, and orchestration to power next-generation AI-driven experiences for Pinners.

Qualifications

Significant experience leading AI/ML engineering teams at scale.
Proven success as a senior engineering leader, with experience managing managers and senior technical leaders.
Strong track record of driving strategy and execution for large-scale, technically complex organizations, especially in AI systems, platform capabilities, personalization, or generative AI.
Experience in one or more areas: foundation model integration, personalization and user understanding, agentic systems and orchestration, proactive vs assistive product experiences, or AI infrastructure.

Responsibilities

Define and drive the organizational and technical strategy for AI Foundations and Proactive Experiences.
Build and lead a high-performing engineering organization with senior engineers and tech leads.
Partner with product, design, data science to shape roadmaps for proactive Pinterest experiences.
Lead development of foundational AI capabilities enabling context-aware, personalized experiences.
Drive a multi-year roadmap for reusable AI capabilities across surfaces and use cases.
Raise engineering excellence in reliability, experimentation, privacy, and cost efficiency.
Establish operating mechanisms for direction, planning, and cross-team dependencies.
Hire, retain, and grow exceptional talent and build an inclusive culture.
Coach managers and senior ICs to expand impact and leadership depth.
Align investments with senior leadership to focus on high-leverage opportunities.
