Job summary

Fortive's Advanced Sterilization Products in Irvine, CA seeks a Manager, Advanced R&D to lead an interdisciplinary team of up to 10 scientists. You will apply rigorous methods and regulatory requirements to develop and sustain scientific solutions, guiding and mentoring staff while ensuring compliance and quality.

You will communicate progress, risks, and opportunities to leadership and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Chemistry, Microbiology, Biochemistry or related field; PhD preferred.
• Minimum 8 years in a regulated scientific or laboratory environment.
• 2+ years of experience leading scientific or technical staff.
• Knowledge of FDA, ISO, and lab compliance requirements.
• Strong experimental design and data analysis skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead research and method development across disciplines to generate robust data.
• Manage a scientific team, set expectations, and ensure compliant work.
• Plan studies from feasibility to validated outcomes with clear insights.
• Develop and transfer analytical methods with proper documentation.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners.
• Oversee lab operations, equipment qualification, and data review.
