Job summary

Capital One is seeking a Senior Manager in Accounting, Controllers Group, to lead a high-performing team focused on accounting, reporting, and analytics. This role drives evolving financial processes alongside strategic initiatives, product launches, and systems integrations, while partnering with executive stakeholders to ensure accurate external and internal reporting.

The position involves risk-based governance of essential processes, mentoring associates, and supporting SOX/compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance or Military experience.
• 7+ years in Accounting, Audit or Finance.
• 3+ years of people management experience.

Responsibilities

• Partner directly with Line of Business, Financial Planning, Corporate Development, Policy and other Accounting and Reporting teams to support new enterprise and business initiatives, projects, and acquisitions.
• Inspire the team to drive efficiencies and reduce risk through process improvements.
• Lead a team of associates responsible for accurate accounting and financial reporting and insightful analytics.
• Support training, development, and evaluation of associates to create a high-performing, cohesive team.
• Develop subject matter expertise in technical accounting aspects of products and operations and consult with internal partners on accounting impacts on reporting.
• Review and maintain supporting documentation for SEC/regulatory filings and disclosures.
• Provide technical support on accounting disclosures to ensure GAAP compliance and regulatory requirements.
• Implement risk management of processes, procedures and standards with updates from changing business factors.
• Assist in external and internal audit coordination.
• Support ongoing SOX and regulatory compliance.
