The Gap Partnership is the world's leading negotiation consultancy, helping organisations create sustainable competitive advantage through improved commercial performance, stronger stakeholder alignment and more effective decision-making.

About the role

As a Senior Management Consultant, you will work closely with senior client stakeholders to diagnose business challenges, develop recommendations and deliver transformational consulting engagements that create lasting commercial impact.

You will combine strategic thinking with practical implementation, helping clients improve performance through a combination of commercial strategy, organisational transformation, capability development and negotiation consulting.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Leading and delivering high-impact consulting engagements for global and regional clients.
  • Advising senior leaders and executive stakeholders on complex commercial and organisational challenges.
  • Supporting clients through business transformation, capability-building and change initiatives.
  • Designing and facilitating executive workshops, leadership programmes and strategic interventions.
  • Helping organisations improve commercial effectiveness by strengthening negotiation capability, stakeholder influence and decision-making processes.
  • Coaching senior leaders and client teams through critical commercial situations and high-value negotiations.
  • Building trusted relationships with senior client stakeholders and becoming a valued advisor.
  • Identifying opportunities to expand client relationships and contribute to business growth.
  • Contributing to the development of consulting methodologies, intellectual property and new advisory propositions.
  • Collaborating with Partners and senior colleagues on strategically important client programmes.

This is a highly visible role offering significant exposure to C-suite stakeholders, global organisations and complex business transformation programmes. Extensive travel throughout North America and internationally is an integral part of the role.

What makes this role different?

Unlike many consulting roles, our work does not stop at strategy and recommendations. We partner closely with clients to drive behavioural change, strengthen organisational capability and deliver measurable commercial outcomes.

Negotiation is one of the most underleveraged drivers of business performance. Our consultants help organisations improve how they influence stakeholders, create value, manage complex commercial relationships and execute critical business decisions.

This combination of consulting, transformation and negotiation expertise gives our clients a unique competitive advantage and provides our consultants with exposure to some of the most commercially significant challenges organisations face today.

Who we're looking for

We are interested in candidates with strong consulting foundations, outstanding client leadership skills and a passion for solving complex business challenges.

This role may be particularly relevant if you currently work within:

  • A leading management consulting firm.
  • A strategy consulting practice.
  • A Big Four advisory business.
  • A commercial transformation consultancy.
  • An organisational effectiveness or change consultancy.
  • A specialist boutique consulting firm serving enterprise clients.
Experience & expertise
  • Successful candidates will typically demonstrate:
  • Experience leading client‑facing consulting engagements and workstreams.
  • Strong problem‑solving, analytical and structured thinking capabilities.
  • Experience working with senior executives and leadership teams.
  • Expertise in strategy execution, transformation, organisational change or commercial improvement initiatives.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management, facilitation and communication skills.
  • A track record of influencing change and delivering measurable client outcomes.
  • Commercial acumen and the ability to identify opportunities to deepen client relationships.
  • The confidence and credibility to operate effectively in complex, high‑stakes business environments.
  • An entrepreneurial mindset and the ambition to help shape a growing consulting business.
  • An interest in commercial decision‑making, stakeholder influence and the role negotiation plays in driving organisational performance.

Direct negotiation consulting experience is not required. We are more interested in exceptional consultants who are intellectually curious, commercially minded and motivated by helping organisations solve complex challenges.

What we offer
  • Competitive compensation package and performance‑based bonus.
  • Prime office location in the heart of Manhattan.
  • The opportunity to help shape and grow a rapidly expanding North American consulting practice.
  • Exposure to senior executives and leadership teams within some of the world's most respected Fortune 500 organisations.
  • International travel and the opportunity to work on global client engagements across industries and markets.
  • Extensive professional development, coaching and ongoing investment in your consulting career.
  • A collaborative hybrid working environment that balances flexibility with team connection.
  • Comprehensive health, retirement and wellbeing benefits.
Why join The Gap Partnership?

This is an opportunity to join a globally recognised consultancy with a distinctive market position and ambitious growth agenda.

You will work directly with senior decision-makers, help shape transformational client programmes and contribute to the continued evolution of one of the most respected specialist consulting firms in the world.

For consultants who enjoy combining strategy, transformation, implementation and client leadership, while developing expertise in a highly differentiated field, this role offers the opportunity to build a genuinely distinctive consulting career.
