Job summary

AdventHealth Denver is seeking a Mammography Technologist to join our breast imaging team on a part-time basis. You will perform high-quality mammography exams, position patients, and collaborate with radiologists to ensure accurate imaging and timely results.

The ideal candidate has MQSA/ACR knowledge, experience with stereotactic biopsies and localizations, and a commitment to patient safety, comfort, and excellent documentation in the EMR. BLS/ARRT radiologic technologist credentials required.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Mammography procedures and positions.
• Ability to determine appropriate technical factors.
• Knowledge of MQSA and ACR regulations.
• Ability to review prior images/films and distinguish area of interest.
• Ability to perform needle localizations, stereotactic core biopsies, and seed implants.
• Ability to train other Mammography Technologists in special procedures.
• Must be able to read, write, speak, and have good comprehension of conversational English.
• Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Participates in patient tracking and follow-up processes, assisting with recalls, additional imaging coordination, and biopsy scheduling as required by departmental workflows.
• Maintains accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR) and PACS systems.
• Performs high-quality examinations in accordance with provider orders and departmental protocols, ensuring optimal image quality for accurate diagnosis.
• Ensures exam rooms are clean, stocked, and ready for use, and that all equipment undergoes routine cleaning and safety checks.
• Supports breast center initiatives, such as accreditation preparation, community screening events, or quality improvement activities.
• Follows department protocols for patient identification, informed consent, and time-out procedures prior to starting exams.
• Follows all MQSA, FDA, and ACR guidelines, including quality control testing, equipment performance checks, and documentation requirements.
• Positions patients and operates mammography equipment to obtain optimal images, adjusting technical factors and compression as needed.
• Collaborates with radiologists and breast imaging team to ensure accurate imaging and timely communication of results or next steps.
• Ensures patient identification, safety, and comfort, explaining procedures clearly and addressing questions or concerns with professionalism and compassion.
• Notifies appropriate personnel when inventory is low; performs and documents daily system quality control (QC) checks in compliance with departmental policies and regulatory requirements.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
