Job summary

The University of Denver’s Sturm College of Law seeks an Associate Director of Development, Major Gifts, to expand philanthropic support. You will manage a 100-150 donor portfolio, qualify and solicit major gifts, and craft targeted proposals to advance priorities.

A legal background is not required, but relationship-building and strategic planning are essential. Reporting to the Executive Director of Development and Alumni Engagement, you’ll collaborate across units, staff dean visits, and

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
• 5 years of professional experience, including at least 3 years of donor or constituent relations or relationship-based sales experience.
• Demonstrated experience closing gifts through direct cultivation of individual donors.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute fundraising strategies to identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit and steward major and planned gift prospects.
• Build and manage a portfolio of 100-150 major gift prospects and donors.
• Solicit major gifts, including current-use, endowed and multi-year commitments.
• Raise $500,000-$1,000,000+ annually in support of Sturm and University priorities.
• Leverage Sturm and University campaign priorities to inspire philanthropic investment and move prospects toward meaningful commitments.
• Develop major gift proposals and donor communications tailored to donor interests.
• Identify planned giving opportunities and partner with planned giving colleagues on deferred gifts and gifts of complex assets.
