The Fairfax County Park Authority (FCPA) is seeking Senior Maintenance Worker to be a part of one of the most highly regarded park systems in the country. With more than 25,000 acres of parkland, nine Recenters, eight golf courses, three lakefront parks, and more, FCPA is an exciting organization to be a part of and there are many opportunities for staff to make a difference at every level.
Under general supervision, performs various semi-skilled maintenance and/or construction tasks and performs related work as required. Participates in the work of an assigned park maintenance crew, performing semiskilled and unskilled tasks relating to grounds maintenance ad facility repairs. May lead a crew in the absence of the maintenance crew chief. Performs maintenance on park facilities, e.g., sport courts, picnic areas, playgrounds, amphitheaters, trails, restrooms, parking lots, signs, fencing, etc. Duties include mowing, snow removal and other grounds maintenance tasks. Removes litter and performs rough carpentry, light construction, minor repairs, and painting of facilities, as necessary. Operates a tractor/bucket loader with attachments, utility vehicles, mowers, and other equipment. Uses gas powered equipment such as trimmer, blower, and chainsaw. Inspects and drives a truck with and without a trailer combination to haul equipment and materials. Informs supervisor of conditions requiring special attention. Maintains tools and equipment in good working order. Completes computerized daily work reports. Performs related duties as required.
Note: Applicants will report to the Area 4 maintenance shop, at 10401 Burke Lake Road, Fairfax Station. This is a 40hour work week, Monday-Friday, 6:30-3pm. Occasional weekend, evening or holiday work may be required. Positions are subject to be transferred to another maintenance operation. Regular attendance is required and is an essential function of the position. The position is designated emergency service personnel.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to completion of the tenth grade; and two years of experience in maintenance, construction, or a related field.
