Job summary

Merck is seeking a Senior Technician, Maintenance in the United States. The role focuses on installation, modification, troubleshooting, and repair of hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and mechanical equipment, plus building fixtures.

Key responsibilities include preventive maintenance, backlog reduction, data entry in EAM, and daily workload coordination. Applicants should have a technical degree or equivalent experience, strong diagnostic skills, and familiarity with SAP/CMMS.

Qualifications

• High school diploma with 7+ years of relevant experience OR an associate’s degree in a technical discipline with 2+ years of relevant experience.
• Ability to read electrical/hydraulic/pneumatic schematics and mechanical drawings to troubleshoot at component level.
• Experience troubleshooting AC/DC electrical components up to 480VAC 3 phase with basic test equipment.
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written) and ability to interact with production, vendors, and management.
• Familiarity with SAP maintenance software and CMMS for data input and repair history.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine preventive maintenance and audit PMs.
• Record and track work in the CMMS/EAM system.
• Prioritize and coordinate daily workload on the shift.
• Escalate major issues to Maintenance Lead/Management.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to reduce losses from equipment failures.
• Participate in root cause analysis for equipment and process failures.
