Job summary

Greif, Inc. is seeking a Senior Maintenance Technician for 2nd shift to perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and repairs on mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems across our facilities.

The role requires reading diagrams, following procedures, and collaborating with line staff to ensure safe, reliable operation. Typical qualifications include a High School diploma or equivalent and 2–4 years of maintenance experience.

Responsibilities

• Performs preventative maintenance per procedures.
• Inspects, lubricates, tests and adjusts components; replaces parts.
• Dismantles, inspects and replaces defective parts; maintains piping and related equipment.
• Installs and repairs electrical apparatus such as transformers and wiring.
• Maintains the establishment's facilities and learns to perform repairs.
• Follows safety, operating procedures and company guidelines.
• Mentors junior colleagues when needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Performs preventative maintenance in accordance with preventative maintenance procedures.
• Performs visual inspections, checks fluid levels, lubricates, and cleans parts, tightens, and adjusts components, replaces parts, calibrates sensors and gauges.
• Visually inspects and tests equipment.
• Listens for unusual sounds to detect malfunctions and discuss machine operations with various line staff.
• Dismantles, inspects, and replaces defective parts and installs new or repaired parts.
• Performs layouts, assemblies, installs, and maintains pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment and repairs or replaces gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment.
• Installs and repairs electrical apparatus such as transformers and wiring.
• Maintains the physical structure of the establishment and learns to perform repairs.
• Installs machinery, platforms, guards.
• Follows guidance from more senior level colleagues.
• May assist more junior level colleagues with routine questions.
• Follows the operations and company safety procedures and practices.

Education and Experience

• Typically possesses High School diploma (or equivalent) and 2-4 years of experience.

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid understanding of preventive maintenance and inspection procedures.
• Ability to inspect, test, dismantle, and repair mechanical and electrical components.
• Working knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems and related equipment.
• Skill in reading and applying diagrams, layouts, and technical instructions.
• Ability to detect malfunctions, share findings, and recommend corrective actions.
• Experience installing and maintaining machinery, equipment, and facility structures.
• Capability to support and occasionally guide junior colleagues.
• Works well under general guidance while following safety and operating procedures.
• Commitment to cleanliness, safety, and compliance with procedures.

Compensation Range

Compensation Range: The pay range for this position is $26.63 - $45.34 annually. Typically, a competitive wage for new hires will fall between $38.00 to $42.00. Offers for this position may vary based on market data and other factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and geographic location. If the competitive wage is equal in both fields, the starting rate is the same for all applicants that apply for this role. The starting rate is not representative of future compensation increases. The position may also be eligible for a short-term incentive.
