Job summary

LATICRETE International is seeking a Lead Maintenance Technician for the second shift to oversee equipment installation, start-up and preventative maintenance of plant machinery. You will manage outside vendors, support TPM programs and drive reliability improvements in a global manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, equipment repair, troubleshooting, and coordinating with production and engineering teams.

Qualifications

  • Associates Degree in related field or Technical Certificate or equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years experience maintaining and repairing equipment in a manufacturing environment.
  • Microsoft Office knowledge including Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams.
  • Able to read and interpret directions and order details.
  • Able to communicate both in writing and verbally.
  • Spanish Speaking a plus.
  • Basic IT Knowledge of IP Addresses and Routers highly desirable.
  • Able to read and interpret blueprints and electric schemes.
  • Basic knowledge of electricity, mechanics, and pneumatics.
  • Experience with tools and machinery.

Responsibilities

  • Lead maintenance activities across preventative maintenance, repair and troubleshooting.
  • Coordinate with production and engineering teams to minimize downtime.
  • Manage contractor projects and vendor relationships for large-scale upgrades.
  • Maintain CMMS logs and planner workflows (COGZ).
  • Ensure safety compliance and TPM practices.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Lead Maintenance Technician provides expertise for equipment installation, start-up and maintenance of plant equipment. This position also manages outside vendor relationships and provides project management support to maintenance projects.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Preventative Maintenance (25%)
    • Perform routine tasks such as greasing bearings, changing belts, changing oil, performing inspections, cleaning equipment, etc to maintain equipment reliability.
    • Support production workers during routine preventative maintenance activities; (TPM).
    • Optimize machine output by maximizing machine cycle times.
    • Identify key preventative tasks and implement them into company CMMS, to increase machine reliability.
  • Equipment Repair (20%)
    • Installs, repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment.
    • Dismantle machinery to remove or replace defective parts.
    • Optimize use of maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies needed to repair equipment to OEM standards.
    • Repair facility and building items as needed.
  • Equipment Troubleshooting (25%)
    • Identify complex electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic problems on production machinery and facility equipment.
    • Locates sources of problems by observing machinery in operation.
    • Utilize tools to evaluate malfunctioning equipment (ex. Multimeter, tachometer, callipers, etc.)
    • Comply with company's LOTO program.
  • Administrative (20%)
    • Log all work performed into the Company CMMS.
    • Responsible to perform Planner work flow functions in COGZ.
    • Identify critical component needs and critical material need and establish safety stock requirements within COGZ to ensure components are on site or quickly sourced to minimize downtime.
    • Manage work orders using COGZ Plant Maintenance.
    • Complete end of shift reports communicating between maintenance and production departments.
    • Order replacement parts for stock or parts for repair.
    • Work with other departments to schedule downtime for repairs.Performing housekeeping, making sure area is clean at all times.
  • Contractor and Project Management (10%)
    • Managing outside contractors to complete large scale projects in the plant such as lighting repairs, new equipment installations, facility upkeep and upgrades, etc.
    • Assist engineering department with onsite contractors when engineering cannot be present.
    • Identify and define tasks that will be handled by outside contractors or with in-house maintenance technicians.
REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
  • Education and Experience: Associates Degree in related field or Technical Certificate or equivalent experience.
  • 8+ Years experience maintaining and repairing equipment in a manufacturing environment.
  • Microsoft Office knowledge including Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams.

  • Travel Requirement: Occasional travel as required.
  • Physical Requirements: Must pass pre-employment physical.
  • Lift: Must be able to lift and/or carry a minimum of 50 pounds.
  • Push/Pull: Must be able to push/pull 50 pounds.
  • Stand: Must be able to stand 80% - 85% of the day.
  • Sitting: Must be able to sit 25% of the day.
  • Twisting/Bending: Must be able to twist/bend 75% of the day.
  • Squatting, Climbing and/or Crawling: Must be able to squat/climb/crawl 25% of the day.
  • Able to work on heights, climb several flights of stairs (over 5 stories) daily if required.
