Job summary

LATICRETE International in Bethany, CT is seeking an experienced Capital Project Design and Management professional to lead capital initiatives across our manufacturing facilities. You will define scope, cost and schedule, develop layouts and equipment specifications, and coordinate with vendors and contractors to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery.

Responsibilities include team leadership, cost control, and ensuring compliance with safety, environmental and quality standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering with 5+ years in a process manufacturing environment.
  • Strong analytical, communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience designing, specifying, acquiring, installing and starting up industrial processes and equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead capital project design and management initiatives across manufacturing facilities.
  • Define scope, cost and schedule; prepare justifications with cost-benefit analysis.
  • Coordinate with vendors, contractors and operations to ensure on-time delivery and compliance.
  • Support plant start-ups and transition responsibilities to Operations after project completion.

POSITION SUMMARY
Capital Project Design (30%)

Develop and administer the capital plan defining project initiatives based upon business/operational needs or opportunities. Lead the scope, cost and schedule development of capital projects and prepare justifications for expenditures with cost benefit analysis. Lead in preparing layout designs and equipment and facility specifications to meet the requirements of the process or desired improvement. Design, evaluate and select equipment and exchange information with vendors, suppliers and contractors to ensure accurate specifications, quotes and delivery schedules.

Capital Project Management (30%)

Create and maintain timelines on projects to assure they are completed on schedule. Ensures the accurate and timely management of change to scope, schedule and cost for assigned projects. Ensures assigned project meet agreed to scope on schedule and within budget. Ensure all LATICRETE processes, equipment, buildings and facilities support systems are in compliance with or exceed all applicable Federal, State and local environmental, safety & health and OSHA regulations and building/construction codes and reporting requirements. Coordinate and direct installation of equipment and services with equipment suppliers, service contractors, operations and maintenance personnel. Support start-up of manufacturing processes and equipment including transitioning of responsibilities to Operations after project scope has been met. Ensure the accurate and timely processing of purchase orders, invoices, cost and expenditure accounting and tracking data and other financial records for Project Engineering activities.

Team Management (25%)

Prioritize and allocate work: Delegate and allocate manageable goals to employees to support company priorities and drive results. Clearly define to team-members project responsibilities and performance expectations for long- and short-term work plans. Set clear priorities for team and individuals, including appropriate allocation of resources (time, money and people). Assess and Reward Performance: Provide team with timely, fair and measured performance assessments and feedback to foster growth. Provide reward and recognition for performance as appropriate. Address performance concerns and hold team accountable. Build Team Culture: Consistently hold employees accountable for upholding the organizations values. Proactively manage unhealthy conflict among employees and take steps to prevent escalation. Foster an open environment where employees feel able to provide constructive feedback and suggestions for improvement. Communicate and Motivate: Communicate regular business updates. Convey information in a clear and timely manner. Listen carefully to the views and opinions of peers and colleagues

Ongoing Operational Support (15%)

Develop work instructions and provide for the documented training of operators and maintenance personnel on all new and improved equipment and support systems implemented and assist in the design of preventive and corrective maintenance programs and spare parts inventories. Identify, develop and implement process improvement initiatives that reduce waste and non-value added activities. Manages Effectiveness (OEE); production efficiencies, yields and rates. Handles the most complex issues and problems and refers only the most difficult and complex issues to higher-level staff.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering; Mechanical, Industrial, Chemical or Civil preferred 5+ years’ experience in a process manufacturing environment.

Specialized Skills and Experience

Plans, organizes and guides projects and team members May be called to consult in other areas Advanced Analytical / Problem-solving skills Experience in the design, specification, acquisition, installation and start-up of new and improved industrial processes, equipment, buildings and support systems. Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills. Highly organized in project scheduling, executing responsibilities and prioritizing in a multitask environment. Self-starter, able to work alone with limited supervision. Team player - maintain positive, cooperative attitude with all employees of LATICRETE and all customers. Ability to build collaborative relationships.

Computer skills

Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and Outlook, AutoCAD; Microsoft Projects.

Travel Requirement

Must be able to travel 25-50% depending on business needs.

Physical Requirements

Must pass pre-employment physical. Lift: Physical ability to lift and/or carry a minimum of 25 lbs. and occasionally as much as 65 lbs. Must be able to climb stairs (including open mesh) with varying degrees of pitch to elevations up to 150 ft. Push/Pull: Must be able to push/pull 50 pounds. Stand: Must be able to stand 75% of the day. Sitting: Must be able to sit 25% of the day. Twisting/Bending: Must be able to twist/bend 50% of the day. Squatting, Climbing and/or Crawling: Must be able to squat/climb/crawl 50% of the day.
