Job summary

Louisiana State University is seeking a Maintenance Repairer Master to maintain and repair university facilities. The role covers carpentry, electrical work, painting, sheet metal, roofing, plumbing, and general surveys to determine maintenance needs.

Requires experience in building trades or related training and a valid driver's license. The position is classified, safety-sensitive, and may involve emergency response; salary is hourly and commensurate with experience.

Qualifications

• Three years of experience or training in building construction trades, maintenance, or repair of mechanical equipment.
• Completion of a two-year vocational program in general building construction or engineering plus one year of related experience.
• Twelve semester hours in construction management or engineering plus one year of related experience.

Responsibilities

• Performs carpentry work for repair/maintenance of buildings and related structures, building shelves, cabinets, windows, trim, ceilings, doors, frames, bulletin boards, etc.
• Performs general electrical work up to 220 volts, installs/repairs fixtures, switches, outlets, fuses, and breakers; uses standard testing tools.
• Performs painting duties including surface preparation and applying paint to buildings and furniture.
• Performs sheet metal and roofing repairs such as gutters, HVAC duct, drip pans, and related components.
• Performs plumbing repairs by fixing fixtures, leaks, drains, and minor plumbing problems.
• Conducts building surveys to identify routine maintenance needs and reports findings to supervisors; performs HVAC troubleshooting and preventative maintenance.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
