Job summary

Pacific Coast Producers in Salem, OR is seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic M1/M2 to install, maintain, and repair production machinery across our facility. This senior role operates within a unionized environment with a $32.91–$35.11/hour pay rate and potential swing shifts.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; millwright apprenticeship preferred.
5+ years of maintenance/millwright experience, ideally in food manufacturing.
Experience maintaining forklifts and material-handling equipment.
Forklift, aerial lift, and vehicle operation certification.
Strong background with boilers, steam systems, blowers, compressors, and wastewater systems.
Advanced mechanical repair, precision alignment, rigging, and fabrication skills.
Welding (MIG, TIG, stick), cutting, and machining proficiency.
Knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, bearings, pumps, gearboxes, and power transmission.
Electrical troubleshooting (motors, VFDs, sensors, PLC-controlled equipment).
Experience with stainless steel fabrication and food-grade materials.
Familiarity with OSHA, GMP, boiler codes, forklift safety, and food safety compliance.
Ability to lift 100 lbs. and work in varied environments.

Responsibilities

Install, maintain, and repair production machinery, conveyors, pumps, piping, mixers, boilers, and compressors.
Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair boilers and wastewater systems.
Maintain forklifts and material-handling equipment; perform safety checks.
Operate forklifts and other equipment to complete maintenance tasks.
Dismantle and reassemble equipment for major overhauls and rebuilds.
Interpret blueprints, P&IDs, and mechanical drawings for installations.
Support changeovers, sanitation, and GMP/HACCP compliance.
Log work orders and maintenance history in CMMS.
Mentor junior technicians and promote safe work practices.
