Job summary

Oregon Fruit Company in Salem, OR is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to keep our production lines running. This hands-on role troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains pumps, conveyors, and a range of equipment while ensuring safety and quality.

You’ll work with mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, perform preventative maintenance, and collaborate with a team on daily goals. A high school diploma is required, college degree a plus; 3–5 years plant maintenance preferred.

Qualifications

• Solid working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
• 3–5 years of plant maintenance experience or closely related work.
• High school diploma required; college degree is a bonus.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, repair, and fine‑tune the equipment that runs our production and labeling lines — pumps, conveyors, fillers, seamers, cookers, palletizers, and everything in between.
• Keep the whole facility humming, from utility systems like boilers, refrigeration, compressed air, and water to the building itself.
• Work hands‑on with mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems — diagnosing the real root cause, not just the symptom.
• Stay ahead of trouble with routine, preventative maintenance that keeps downtime low and equipment life long.
• Jump in wherever the day takes you — welding, fabricating, operating forklifts and lifts, and partnering with the team to hit our goals.
• Flag issues the moment you spot them — your eyes and ears keep the whole operation running clean and safe.

What we are looking for

• You are someone who can't walk past a machine without wanting to know how it works. You take pride in fixing things right the first time, you stay cool when a line goes down, and you don't wait to be told what needs doing next. • Solid working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
• 3–5 years of plant maintenance experience or closely related work — LME is a big plus.
• A self‑starter who can manage their own schedule, solve problems on the fly, and keep a steady head under pressure.
• A dependable, coachable team player who shows up ready.
• High school diploma required; a college degree is a bonus.
• Comfortable being on your feet, reaching, and lifting up to 50 lbs. when the job calls for it.

You will work in a food manufacturing facility where safety and quality standards are non‑negotiable. Hearing protection, hair and beard nets, and other required PPE keep everyone safe on the floor.
