Job summary

Ocado Group in the United States is seeking a Senior Maintenance Engineer to lead reactive and planned maintenance for mechanical handling equipment at a Customer Fulfillment Center. You will troubleshoot, repair, and improve conveyors, lifts, cranes and belts, while coordinating with inbound, pick and dispatch teams to support daily operations.

The role requires at least five years in electrical or mechanical maintenance, strong controls knowledge, and experience with CMMS.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years direct experience in the mechanical or electrical field.
• Strong electrical experience in FMCG environments.
• Knowledge/experience with controls, fault analysis and solutions.
• Experience with both reactive and preventative maintenance.
• Strong organization and communication skills; able to work in a multi‑disciplined team.
• Comfortable working at heights with various access equipment.
• Good technical ability relating to automation hardware and software.
• Solid analytical skills with attention to detail and problem solving.
• Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
• Numerate and PC literate, including G‑Suite and MS Office programs.

Responsibilities

• React to MHE breakdowns (mechanical and electrical) and fix quickly to minimize downtime.
• Keep accurate records of work activities and parts used.
• Align priorities and monitor KPIs to optimize service.
• Coordinate with inbound, pick, dispatch and other teams to support assets.
• Mentor assigned maintenance engineers.
• Perform assembly and sub‑assembly repairs per instructions, blueprints and schematics.
• Work with departments to increase machine reliability and diagnose breakdowns.
• Attend meetings, analyze data and improve equipment performance while ensuring safety.
• Be involved in projects to develop engineering installation and commissioning.
• Complete quality inspections to ensure safe workmanship.
