Senior Mainframe Systems Programmer- Storage

Remote - United States

Position Summary:

As a member of the mainframe Storage team, the individual will work on storage infrastructure administration, configuration, and installation, including DASD, tape, virtual tape, encryption, and replication for backup and disaster recovery (DR) capabilities. Responsibilities also include software and hardware refreshes, customer migrations, and daily customer support.

The position reports to the Manager, Mainframe Storage.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Provide DASD and tape storage administration support.
2. Manage storage pools for multiple customers and LPARs.
3. Perform problem diagnostics and resolutions.
4. Create and oversee backup jobs (daily, weekly, monthly).
5. Participate in Data Center migration projects.
6. Perform data and volume recovery.
7. Manage data migrations between storage frames.
8. Participate in Disaster Recovery Tests.
9. Interact with account management, customers, hardware, and software vendors.
10. Mentor and train Storage team members.

Qualifications:

Required:

• Minimum of 8 years of related experience; relevant work experience may substitute for a degree.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to handle multiple projects concurrently.
• Experience with IBM storage software (e.g., Copy Services Manager, SMS, HSM, IDCAMS, DFDSS).
• Experience in Disaster Recovery planning and implementation.
• Knowledge of catalog structures, LPAR sysplexes, resource sharing, and DASD hardware configurations with replication.
• Proficiency with IBM and Oracle/STK tape hardware/software, CA-1, MIMTape, Dell/EMC, RMM, TLMS, GRS, Tapecopy, and SMF.
